This process will work for all windows operating system like Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows Vista. The steps to convert the flash drive to page file are:

1. Connect your flash drive or pen drive to the computer. The drive size must be at least 1 Gigabyte. But it will be better to use 4 GB.

2. Right click on the "My Computer" icon from your desktop and go to "Properties". You can alternately do this after entering to "My Computer" and then right clicking on the blank space.

3. From "Properties" window, click on "Advanced>Performance>Settings>Advanced>Change"

4. By default, "No paging file" is selected.

5. Now, select your flash drive or pen drive and click on "Custom Size".

6. Write same number to the field for "Initial size" and "Maximum size". Here you will put that size which you want to use as RAM.

7. Windows needs five-megabyte free space. Therefore, you must type to "Initial size" and "Maximum size" fields 5 MB less than the available size.

8. Now press "Apply>OK>OK" and restart your computer.

It is mentioned that you can use the free space of your hard disk as the page file using this process.
